‘Girls’ season 3 spoilers: Sonic Youth alum Kim Gordon to guest

The latest -Right now, it remains incredibly hard to really figure out anything story-related for “Girls” season 3. Lena Dunham fashions herself the comedy version of “Mad Men’s” Matthew Weiner in terms of keeping things under wraps, and we don’t see any real indication of that changing in the near future based on what she has done in the past year. All we can say is that a vacation will play a major part in the 12 episodes ahead, as well Marnie’s attempt to try and move on with her life after the stunning exit of Charlie both on the show and off as a cast member.

One thing that we can say right now? That there will be an added element of music prestige in the guest cast. In an interview with Slade, Kim Gordon, formerly of Sonic Youth, confirmed that she is going to be appearing in an episode of the HBO series airing early next year. While she does not know creator / star Lena Dunham personally, she knows executive producer Jenni Konnor.

Given what we said earlier, it is really rather difficult to know what sort of role she could be playing whether it’s herself or some other character who was a part of the rock-music scene. It would blend in with the sort of hipster community that Dunham’s Hannah Horvath is a part of, and produce another interesting story that is a little bit off of the beaten path for the show.

Whatever it is, we’re sure that the role merits her appearance and then some. “Girls” is not a show with a reputation for stunt-casting, or having people turn up without a purpose.
