‘The Mentalist’ season 6 spoilers: Patrick Jane vs. a few Red John suspects

Take a look -

If you have followed all news related to “The Mentalist” this year, then there is one simple fact that you have already been clued into in regards to the story: It will be case closed for Red John at some point during the show’s sixth season. The long personal nightmare for Simon Baker’s Patrick Jane will be over, and it will be time for some other questions to be asked … including just where the character ends up going from here.

We’re not going to get too far ahead of ourselves here, and instead, the major purpose of this article is to share the photo (first uploaded by TVLine) of Jane confronting a trio of men who he had on his shortened list of suspects to be the killer: CBI director Gale Bertram (played by Michael Gaston), Sheriff Thomas McAllister (Xander Berkeley) and G-man Reede Smith (Drew Powell). This image comes from the second episode of the season (entitled “Black-Winged Redbird”), and it is possible that the episode could end with at least one of these guys’ names being cleared off the list.

Based on what we have heard to this point from creator Bruno Heller, there is not necessarily any rhyme or reason to how suspects will be crossed off the list for the character. They are just going to happen whenever the right amount of evidence comes up, and when Jane feels like he is able to move forward. The one thing we can tell you about now is to not expect Jane to wrap up identifying the killer in the premiere. This will be a process that lasts for a few weeks.

As always, be sure to share your thoughts below, and we will be back for more “Mentalist” news all season.
