NBC’s ‘Community’ season 5 spoilers: ‘Justified’s’ Walton Goggins signs on for awesome role

The latest -Sound the alarms, ring the bells, and do whatever else you need to alert the presses: Walton Goggins is going to be on “Community.” In case you cannot tell here, we’re certainly more than a little bit excited about it.

As for who the actor is going to be on the show this season, some of that is still a mystery. We know per TV Guide that he will play a man known as Mr. Stone, and that he will bring to Greendale this year “a dangerous accusation, a tantalizing offer and a devious plan that will change the group forever.” This sounds like the sort of bizarre / amazing thing that we had when Josh Holloway appeared for an episode back at the end of season 2, which was another slice of Dan Harmon brilliance. He joins “Breaking Bad’s” Jonathan Banks as a new addition to this season, though the latter actor is expected to have a pretty substantial role in the year as a whole.

Goggins is of course best known for his Emmy-nominated take on Boyd Crowder over on “Justified”, and he also had a memorable guest spot as Venus Van Damme on “Sons of Anarchy.” Another little fun fact is that he actually won an Academy Award for the 2001 short film “The Account,” which he both starred in and produced.

“Community’s” season 5 production is largely still a mystery, mostly because Harmon has no interest in giving anything away before the show even has a premiere date. We will probably not find out too much more until the fall schedule premieres, given that there is bound to be a show that does horribly and is canceled. (We like Mike O’Malley, but “Welcome to the Family” is going to struggle.)

What do you think about this casting? As always, we want to hear your thoughts below!
