‘Duck Dynasty’ season 4, episode 4 review: Jase, Willie Robertson try living together
We’ve compared “Duck Dynasty” ever since the very beginning to a classic sitcom in reality TV form, and for tonight’s new episode, that sitcom was more or less “The Odd Couple.” Having Jase and Willie Robertson working together is ridiculously entertaining. Meanwhile, having them actually live together at Willie’s place was something else entirely.
There have been times when Jase is characterized as lazy, but we will say this: A genuinely lazy person does not cook steak at 4 in the morning in order to prepare for a fishing trip. The idea that this managed to annoy the heck of Willie made it all the more entertaining. Eventually, Willie tried to throw his brother out without really saying it verbatim, but he did not really have the guts to do so. This story did feel pre-planned in many ways, but these two guys have such a natural demeanor that it’s hard to really care in the end.
This episode as a whole was just old-school, which is precisely why we loved and appreciated it so much. The show really seems like they have learned from some of the mistakes of season 3. There has been less of “celebrity guests” and proof that the Robertsons are famous now. The entire “redneck games” aspect of this was hysterical, as we had Si and Phil exchanging various bets to do things that neither of them were particularly capable of doing all the time. We’re really not sure that either one of them succeeded, but we were thoroughly entertained.
If the rest of “Duck Dynasty” this year is like this, we will be very happy happy happy, indeed.
