‘Veep’ season 3: Tony Hale on Gary’s dreams for Selina

This is something that we certainly do not have the opportunity to share every day: Some scoop on “Veep” during the off-season! When you have a show with lengthy hiatuses like this one, there is really not often much to talk about until filming begins.

Therefore, it’s better to think of this article more as a venture into speculation than anything particularly related to spoilers. We’re not giving anything substantial away here; instead, this is just all about hearing what Tony Hale has to say about what we could be seeing Gary doing when the HBO show picks back up, and Selina Meyer is now in the process of running for President. For the character, Hale tells TVLine that this is very much his dream come true:

“She’s finally getting what she deserves, in Gary’s world anyway. She’s up there with the Pope! He believes that she needs to be traveling around in a glass car where no one can touch her. And whatever [the outcome], this journey is going to be either more exciting or more devastating for Gary… He feels things way more than she does.”

Hale also said that Gary’s dream world is probably like that episode from last season, where she was drugged up and started claiming that she wanted to meet his family and take a greater interest in his life. Though there was a part of him that probably realized that it was not permanent, the guy was so desperate for attention at that point that he went ahead and believed it anyway.
