‘The Amazing Race 23’ cast: Take a deeper look in new video

When we first took a look at the cast for “The Amazing Race 23,” our viewpoint on it was somewhat mixed. While there were some teams that looked interesting in theory, others were more or less just the same old archetypes that we have seen on the show so many times before.

However, upon further review (meaning upon watching the new video from CBS) this may be the most diverse cast that has been on the show ever since season 10; we have people from all walks of life, different races, and different religions. We just hope that this time around the two most interesting teams do not get eliminated as we saw straight out of the gate that season. (And by “interesting teams,” we are clearly referring to people other than the baseball wives, the football players, or the ice rink girls.)

While we very much dig the diversity, there is one question that the video below does make us unfortunately ask: Are there any teams that are going to bring the necessary laughs to the proceedings? Save for maybe “bingo queens” Rowan & Shane, we’re not really getting it from anyone else. The ideal mixture for an “Amazing Race” season is that you need a good three or four teams that are super-likable and funny, a couple of annoying teams (usually fighting couples), and also villains that you want to root against. So long as we have all of those thrown into a giant melting pot come Sunday, September 29 on CBS, we have a feeling that we are going to be rather thrilled.
