‘Breaking Bad’ season 5, episode 12 review: Is Jesse or Hank the real ‘Rabid Dog’ here?
“This is a person” – Says Walter White, a man who poisoned Brock, killed Mike, and made a lengthy tape trying to incriminate Hank on “Breaking Bad,” as he talked about his longtime partner-in-crime Jesse Pinkman. Despite his long history of being an immoral, awful human being, he apparently draws the line somewhere. However, Skyler does not, and her opinion on tonight’s episode was very clear: The man has to go.
For the first twenty minutes or so, there were understandably all sorts of questions about what in the world happened to Jesse to keep him from burning down Walt’s home; as it turns out, it was Hank that came in “to the rescue” and convinced him to not ultimately do the deed. The reason for that is simple in that he knows Jesse is a valuable witness, and someone that he can use to finally get this villain behind bars.
With that being said, a darker side of Hank came out when he basically was willing to turn Walt’s former student into a martyr just to ensure that he got what he wanted; even if he died, he could have the act on tape, and therefore Walt would end up behind bars and we would effectively have a win-win situation. Jesse has no choice but to seemingly go along with it.
But the biggest surprise in here? That this was all for naught. The “meeting” between Jesse and Walt ended simply because the former mistakenly felt as though he was about to be murdered in the plaza, and bailed saying that there is a better way to kill Walt. But now that Walt, angry following a heated phone conversation, knows what Jesse has planned the real reinforcements are coming in via Todd’s uncle. There is big trouble coming now, and Jesse’s life is on the line.
The only thing sadder than watching Jesse, who we’ve become so attached to over the years, seemingly risk his life is watching Walter Jr. continue to believe that his father is a nice man, and that he accidentally put clothes with gasoline on them all over the floor in an effort to hide what Jesse did.
“Rabid Dog” was an excellent episode, but also one that seemed more necessary to build up the story than to answer all of our burning questions. Next week, we expect things to really shift to another level.

Jesse goes to meet Walt…is paranoid, after all, he is going to meet “the devil”. So, when he sees the bald toughie, his reaction seems right. But then the very next moment he talks about coming after Walt where he “really lives”. Is that simply anger talking, or does he have a concrete plan? Apparently he does, as he tells Hank later about his “better way” of dealing with Walt. But this transition from paranoia to “eureka!” seems like a stretch.
Jesse is clearly not the thinking type, though he does come up with brilliant ideas now and then (e.g. using a magnet/ building a battery). The question is does he indeed come up with an idea to deal with Walt in those two or three minutes, when he is seemingly focussed on locating any possible threats to his own life (“clock tower guy”, “poisoned needle”)?

The show sucked tonight, it was very ordinary, in the acting, and the plot lines.
