‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 10 spoilers: Shonda Rhimes wants Kate Walsh back, at least briefly

The future -Could we ultimately see more of Addison on “Grey’s Anatomy”? While you could argue that the larger part of her story is over courtesy of the “Private Practice” series finale early this year, the creator of both shows is definitely making it clear that the door is indeed open for a return.

Responding to a fan question on Twitter about whether or not it was true that she was hoping to get Kate Walsh back on the show, Shonda Rhimes gave probably the simplest answer that she could possibly give: “YES.” As for how she plans on getting a story out in Seattle for Addison, Rhimes did not elaborate, but given what some of her specialties are as a doctor, there are always some reasons to have her back up from Los Angeles for just a couple of weeks.

While there are a number of factors that would need to be worked out, this is something that we actually believe will happen for a number of reasons. For one, Rhimes has a history of bringing back past stars (at least ones not named Katherine Heigl) for story arcs in the future, and Walsh has also said that she would not mind popping up for an episode or two in the future. While she had wanted to leave “Private Practice” even before it was announced that season 6 would be the show’s last year, that was more because she was no longer interested in taking on the part full-time.

“Grey’s Anatomy” season 10 premieres on Thursday, September 26 on ABC, and given where the show is right now in production, it is pretty easy to assume that you are not going to be seeing Addison at any point in the first few episodes of the season.
