‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9 spoilers: Ted is tackled (hard) in first teaser

With the September 23 premiere of “How I Met Your Mother” season 9 hastily approaching, don’t you think it is time for the first promo? We think so, and are therefore more than pleased to provide it.

If you look below, you can see what are some of the early highlights for a pretty exciting (and pretty different) season. You have everything happening in real time, Marshall threatening to destroy the wedding (possibly thanks to making it all about himself and his career as a judge), to Ted once again finding himself getting very hung up over some of the feelings that he has for Robin. This happened yet again at the end of last season, and one of the scenes below feels almost as though Barney is having to deliver the cold, painful truth straight to his face: Robin’s not in love with him. She’s getting married, and he has to let it go.

Apparently, though, this conversation is still not enough for Lily to go after Ted like he is a quarterback and she is a member of South Carolina’s defensive line. Someone needs to shake a little bit of sense into the guy, and who knows? Maybe it actually takes some sort of violent, somewhat-angry confrontation for him to actually get it into his head that he is not going to end up being with her. It may be hard for him to hear, but it is nonetheless the truth. The good news here is that the Mother really is not that far away from appearing, and Ted will be able to forget about many of his sorrows soon all courtesy of her.
