‘Real Housewives of Orange County’ review: The Vicki Gunvalson madness is over
Well, take a deep breath. We have finally made it through “The Real Housewives of Orange County” season 8, at least when it comes to the new footage.
But after watching this episode, the question that we have to ask here should be obvious: Was this really an hour of television that we needed? It feels like most of the interesting subject matter from the season of the show was covered during the first two hours and there was way too much time here spent doing what felt almost a little too much like an episode of “Dr. Phil.” Here is how we could describe it: Vicki Gunvalson’s daughter Briana hates her boyfriend Brooks, and has for years, there was absolutely nothing new that we really learned about either person in here. In the end, they’ll both want to be around Vicki either for love or fame purposes (possibly the latter more so with Brooks), and they’re probably just going to be better suited staying away from each other.
The part of the reunion that was not about them still revolved in many ways around Vicki, and was simply just tying up some loose ends from earlier on. Lauri Petersen’s story could have really ended last week, but we suppose that the show wanted to have even more of an argument. At this point, we’d like to impose a new rule for the show: When you’re done, you’re done. No more spontaneously showing back up on the show after the fact. Just choose what you’re going to do, and then stick with it in the end.
