Golden Globes 2014: Could Amy Poehler and Tina Fey return as co-hosts?
Even though the Primetime Emmy Awards are still a month away from happening, we are going to flash forward now to a story that will actually not have a great deal of relevancy to NBC until the end of this year: Their selection of the next Golden Globes host.
According to Deadline, the team of both Amy Poehler and Tina Fey have been approached about them being potentially interested in coming back for the 2014 ceremony after drawing rave reviews for their turn earlier this year. No formal offer has been made, and the purpose of this was more to just see where the two parties stood on coming back.
At the moment, there is one obvious reason why the Globes may need to have another host in mind: Schedules. Fey is in the middle of working on several projects, whereas Poehler has her regular gig on “Parks and Recreation.” With all of this being said, we feel almost like there would be a certain benefit that would come for both of them from hosting this show, with Fey front and center. She does not have “30 Rock” to look forward to anymore, and this keeps her in the public eye while she prepares to launch future projects.
It’s feasible that the Globes could go back to a hostless format like they had for many years, but this could potentially lead to a disaster when you remember that the expectations for the show have now changes in a post-Ricky Gervais world. We’d like to think that they could ask Ricky back … but that probably won’t happen. We found a sadistic sort of enjoyment out of seeing various celebrities squirm for an hour.
