‘Sons of Anarchy’ season 6: ‘Anarchy Afterword’ confirmed as aftershow; Chris Franjola to host
“Sons of Anarchy” officially has an aftershow, and we also know for sure now who is going to be serving as a host. In his newest edition of “WTFSutter” (subscribe here) on Saturday, creator Kurt Sutter confirmed that we are going to see “Anarchy Afterword,” a lovely little play on words that is going to be hosted by writer / comedian Chris Franjola of “Chelsea Lately” fame. (He’s also appeared on over 20 “After Lately” episodes, if you are insanely curious.)
For those who have missed out on some other details related to the project over the past several weeks, what you need to know here is pretty simple. There will be three of these that will stream online on FX’s official site after the show airs (sorry to those not in America), with two of the airings coming following the premiere on September 10 and the finale. (The third is a currently-unspecified episode.) Sutter will be a guest on the show, as well some select actors and also a celebrity fan. The format is pretty similar to AMC’s “Talking Dead” and “Talking Bad,” though there will clearly be different energy thanks to “Sons of Anarchy” being a very different kind of show.
Depending on the success of these, Sutter claims that it is possible there could be more “Anarchy Afterword” episodes in season 7, along with a possible on-air component. Personally, we don’t quite understand why FX is not going for it now, given the “Sons of Anarchy” ratings and that AMC has proven that the model works, and even Bravo has to an extent. (Many “Watch What Happens Live!” episodes are more or less aftershows for the program.) However, it’s hard to complain about something nice that is being gifted to us as viewers, especially when we previously didn’t have anything.
