‘American Horror Story: Coven’: Sarah Paulson teases ‘fun’ side of new season

The latest -Can a season of “American Horror Story” actually make you laugh? That is the current experiment that Ryan Murphy and FX seems to be running for their upcoming “Coven” themed installment of their horror franchise.

While there is almost nothing revealed about this season save for some of those creepy teaser videos, series star Sarah Paulson told E! News that there would be a lighter tone at times this season than what we had from last year’s dark, moody, and also at-times depressing season with the “Asylum” subtitle. Unfortunately, that was all she offered in terms of an explanation. We can tell you for now that Paulson’s character is named Cordelia, and she is the daughter of Jessica Lange’s Fiona, who is an extremely powerful (and possibly extremely evil) witch.

The new season does not have an official premiere date just yet, but you can count on it being in October. What is interesting about this franchise is that despite all of the relentless hype, it’s actually not much of a ratings monster like another FX show in “Sons of Anarchy.” It is just an entertaining horror romp, and there is really not much else like it on TV. Not everyone gets it, and not everyone probably wants to get it, but at the end of the day, we have to figure that this is okay.

Are you excited by what Paulson is saying here about this season being a little more fun, and are you as interested as we are to really figure out what “fun” means here? As always, be sure to share some of your thoughts with a comment below! We are going to have more news on this season as it becomes available.
