ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 6 spoilers: Series boss on why Nathan Fillion’s Rick proposed

The latest -While we still have slightly a little over a month now to go before we really get an opportunity to have the full picture as to whether or not Kate accepts Rick’s proposal on the “Castle” season 6 premiere, there are still so many questions that can be asked and debated until that time.

For one, there is the burning issue about what exactly was Castle’s intent at the moment that he got down on one knee and popped the question. Was he really interested in becoming the fiance of Stana Katic’s character in that moment, or was this more of trying to give her what she needed to know that there was a life still in New York City? Speaking to TV Guide, executive producer Andrew Marlowe does his best to dismiss the notion of this being anything other than a move born out of genuine love:

“He asked his question out of emotion and passion and the circumstances of the moment. He was challenged to think about what he really wanted in life. His preferred version is that he has this woman in his life.”

While this may be true, there is also a reason why Castle has been married multiple times in the past; he has some serious baggage, and if Beckett says yes, Marlowe makes it clear that there is not always going to be smooth sailing between the two. His inability to let down the walls is still going to be there, and if other women struggled with Nathan Fillion’s character as wives to find out who he truly was, who’s to say that things will be any different this time? Given that this would be a very depressing show if the end was Caskett falling apart, we’re still imagining that there will a nice end for the couple at the end of this. But if that is going to happen, both parties are going to have to work hard at it.
