It’s never easy to get even metaphorical blood on your hands, but sometimes on “Grey’s Anatomy,” they really are forced to face the guilt that comes with having someone die on your watch. No one is feeling that more than Miranda Bailey moving into the start of the show’s 10th season.
But is she going to continue to be haunted by some of these spirits? It definitely sounds like it. Speaking in an interview with E! News, Chandra Wilson confirmed more or less that this is going to be an issue that the doctor struggles with throughout the early part of the season. While she ended up being integral in protecting both Meredith and her baby from harm during the finale, that’s one medical victory. Compare that to all of the tragedies that she has been a part of the past several months, and you have yourself what can best be described as a pretty lopsided situation.
Shonda Rhimes did a great job of setting up this premiere episode so that virtually nobody really enters the start of it feeling altogether wonderful about their circumstances. While Meredith has a new child, she has new struggles; meanwhile, Cristina is now single, we have Alex and Jo trying to figure out what happens next, and Callie reeling from the devastating news that Arizona cheated on her. None of this is going to be particularly easy for all of these parties to take at the end of the day.
On the more positive side, “Grey’s Anatomy” is getting near its 200th episode, and that is an accomplishment that is worth some sort of serious celebration. As for what is going to happen in order to mark the occasion, the best way to answer that is simply a giant cake, and some stories that are going to take the characters into different places than they have been recently.
