ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 3: Hear Kerry Washington sing Disney!

As if you did not have enough of a reason to like and want to root for Kerry Washington already, we now present you with this: The opportunity to hear the star of ABC’s “Scandal” sing a classic song from Aladdin with an “American Idol” champion!

Let’s start things off here by setting the scene for this grand musical occasion. Kerry was present with former “American Idol” winner Jordin Sparks at “On Air with Ryan Seacrest,” and Jordin asks here what seems to be at first a pretty easy question: What is your favorite go-to karaoke song? The Emmy nominee’s answer was the Disney classic “A Whole New World,” and then Jordin actually got her to sing along to it.

For just a few brief seconds in the video below, you can see the terror in Kerry’s eyes as she realizes that she is about to try and belt a few notes along with someone who has won the biggest singing-competition in America, but she really nails it! Kerry’s got a great singing voice, which sets her up nicely for that “Scandal” musical episode a few years down the line. (Hey, if “Grey’s Anatomy” can do it…)

So hats off (especially white hats, given Olivia Pope’s fondness for them) to Kerry for being willing to go along with this, and it shows that she’s game for almost anything. She is very hard at work right now filming new scenes for the third season of the hit drama, which is going to premiere on Thursday, October 3 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time.
