‘Doctor Who’ 50th anniversary: Google Maps offers up delightful Tardis experience
If you want to take a peek inside the ship, it really consists of just a few simple steps:
1. Head to Google Maps’ page.
2. Search for “police telephone box earl’s court”
3. You should see a marker that comes up for Earl’s Court Road. You can either see the Police Box from the street and try to enter the Tardis that way (though we had trouble on the new Google Maps doing this), or you can just click the button to see inside.
While Google does not offer you an opportunity to visit every little corner of the massive ship, it’s a nice little Easter egg for those of you who are not infatuated enough already with Google Maps, and need to find something else fun to do courtesy of the service to burn a few minutes out of your day (though these, by our estimation, are minutes well-spent).
This is the latest fun little stunt designed to promote the upcoming 50th Anniversary Special on November 23, which still seems forever away given that it was filmed much earlier this year. Filming will begin soon on the Christmas special, which marks the end of Matt Smith on the show and the beginning for Peter Capaldi.
