‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 10 spoilers: ‘Dexter’s’ James Remar takes on mysterious new role

The future -James Remar is wasting no time at all following eight years on “Dexter” to scoop up a major role elsewhere, and hopefully this time around he will have an opportunity to play a character that is still very much alive.

According to TVLine, the man otherwise known has Harry Morgan has signed up for multiple episodes of “Grey’s Anatomy” season 10. This role is heavily guarded, and hopefully will stay that way until it is revealed on the show, so if you are looking for more on that you’ll have to wait. The easy assumption would be that he is playing some sort of new patient or doctor, but given the question marks around the role, we figure that there is some sort of twist to go along with it.

Many diehard TV fans likely remember Remar for playing Samantha Jones’ love interest Richard Wright on a dozen episodes of “Sex and the City,” which was one of her last loves before she started to date Smith Jerrod. He’s also appeared on “Third Watch,” done a bevy of voiceover work, and actually appeared in an episode of the “Grey’s Anatomy” spin-off “Private Practice.” That may be a little awkward given that they are in the same universe, but James is a great actor and it’s no surprise that Shonda Rhimes wanted to use him again.

The new “Grey’s Anatomy” season will start on Thursday, September 26 at 9:00 p.m. with a two-hour episode that sets the stage for the season, but it is unclear if Remar will start his arc during this episode. Given that almost all of the news this week as been about the departure of Sandra Oh’s Cristina Yang, we’re just happy to close the week with something a little bit different.
