‘That 70’s Show’ star Lisa Robin Kelly, known for Laurie Forman, dead at 43
More sad news coming in today about someone with a lengthy history of addiction: Former sitcom star Lisa Robin Kelly, best known for playing Eric Foreman’s older sister Laurie on multiple seasons of “That 70’s Show.” According to TMZ, the actress passed away overnight while at a recovery center, where she was attempting to overcome her latest bot of alcoholism. She was 43 years old.
Kelly’s agent told the website that she voluntarily checked herself into recovery this past week, hoping to turn her life around after a series of arrests, including three for driving under the influence.
In addition to playing Laurie on the Fox sitcom, which spawned the careers of Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, Laura Prepon, Wilmer Valderrama and Topher Grace, Kelly also made brief guest appearances on “The X-Files” and “Charmed.” Her troubles have clearly followed her when it comes to her acting career, as she did not have another television credit after her time on “That 70’s Show” was over.
Many of her co-stars have yet to speak out on her passing, but that could change in the time ahead as the news starts to quickly spread. Kelly was a series regular for the first three years of “That 70’s show”, but then recurred briefly in the fifth season. She was then later replaced by Christina Moore in the show’s sixth season, as she later admitted that her problems with drinking caused her to eventually push away from her job. She did not return for the series finale, as Grace and Kutcher both did.
This news comes a day after the death of “The Bachelor” alum Gia Alleman, who sadly committed suicide after a battle with depression.
