‘Real Housewives of Orange County’: Prepare for reunion with Lydia McLaughlin
Tomorrow night on “The Real Housewives of Orange County,” we have the beginning of what is probably going to be a pretty dramatic period of time, and it’s all thanks to the show’s annual cluster-you-know-what of a reunion. Who isn’t down for constant shouting and naming-calling? If you aren’t, we are assuming that you are probably watching something else every Monday night.
While the video below does not contain anything in the way of actual footage from the reunion, it does contain something that you could really consider to be an appetizer for the main course in constant screaming and shouting fits: A video featuring Lydia McLaughlin talking a little bit about the infamous “cheeseburger” nickname that Slade Smiley made during his radio show a little bit earlier in the season. With that in mind, she proceeded to make a series of other nicknames that she would much rather give herself.
Unfortunately for Lydia, she does not seem to grasp the concept of nicknames: You are really not supposed to be giving yourself your own nickname. It’s egocentric, and a little weird. Plus, Lydia’s nicknames for herself are all completely positive and cheery, which is like going to someone and asking if they can give you a cool moniker.
So what do we think about Lydia this season as a whole? As much as we rail on her over some of her nicknames, the truth of the matter here is that she is still one of the funnier, more engaging members of the show’s cast. Not only that, but she brings a nice change of pace when it comes to personality from some of the more-aggressive women on the Bravo series.
