‘The Amazing Race Canada’ preview: Ratings and Regina, Saskatchewan
While we sadly don’t have a preview video to share this week for Monday night’s “The Amazing Race Canada” episode, we can at least tease that this episode, based in Regina, Saskatchewan, may be among the most exciting that the show has created yet for a number of reasons.
1. The Double U-Turn – We prefer this much more to the Blind U-Turn in that you’re not automatically dooming one team to finish in last place just because another team in front of them doesn’t like them. Given that there’s so much money on the line, you know that some people are going to go for this. (They always do.)
2. Great challenges – Something in this leg takes teams to an enormous stadium, while another has them looking through lentils. While this season started off with ho-hum competitions, it is getting better from here on out. Plus, the RCMP shows up and makes one contestant cry!
3. More fighting – Holly & Brett are going to be at odds again, which is something that we assume you and everyone else in Canada saw coming a mile away, but will their bickering actually cost them the race this time around?
Considering that recent final figures for “The Amazing Race Canada” show that the series had the strongest launch of any in the country’s television history, with 3.5 million tuning in, we would say that odds of a season 2 are pretty high. While this show cannot be extremely low-budget to shoot, keeping it relegated to Canada or at least a certain part of the world could help to cover costs.
As for who we’re rooting for? At the moment, we have to say that almost every team has their charms. Holly & Brett probably fight too much for some people, but we also think that Vanessa & Celina are really lucky to still be in the race right now.

I was at the stadium as part of the crowd during filming. I stayed for the whole day, watching the setup, the challenge introduction filming, and the teams performing the Detour. And yes, those of us in the crowd quickly figured out it was a Double U-Turn.
You can be rest assured that it’s going to be intense.
