‘Criminal Minds’ season 9 spoilers: Getting your kicks on ‘Route 66’

We wonder if Nat King Cole would be really thrilled to watch the upcoming fifth episode of “Criminal Minds” this season. While there has not been very much actually revealed about the hour thus far, it does at least have a name that almost every American of a certain age knows very well: “Route 66.”

This title was first reported by SpoilerTV, and there are of course questions left and right that come with this. For one, is the team heading to one of the iconic cities along the route? Probably not. These titles have a history of remaining very vague, and are ultimately just tied somewhere into the actual content of the case.

We do know that “Criminal Minds” as a whole does have some pretty exciting stories coming up this season, including plans to dive deeper into a few characters’ pasts in a way that has not been done previously. While you always run the risk of retracing old ground when your show has been on the air for nearly a decade, one of the benefits that does come from this level of success is merely the opportunity to have so many different angles to explore with the characters that you have.
