‘The Mindy Project’ season 2 spoilers: ‘It’s Always Sunny’ star to romance Mindy Kaling
We don’t know if there’s something in the water at the casting meetings for “The Mindy Project,” or if Mindy Kaling has a lot of famous friends, but regardless of what it is, Fox has to be doing a victory lap when it comes to all of the top-notch (and controversial) guest stars that they are getting this year. We already know that James Franco will appear in multiple episodes, as will Adam Pally fresh off of his time on the fan favorite “Happy Endings.”
Now, you can add Glenn Howerton to the mix. One of the stars / executive producers of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” has, per E! News, joined the show for a multi-episode arc as Cliff Gilbert, an attorney who she meets inside of her office building. The two will first meet up during the fourth episode, and the story will go from there depending on what happens with their relationship. He’s at least billed as a “love interest” for now.
Sadly, we cannot imagine this having a great ending for Mindy in the long-term, mostly because of the fact that Howerton has another full-time job, and he is just doing this gig during his hiatus. While there is at least one more season of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” after this, there could even be more depending on ratings and where contractual obligations go. For now, let’s just celebrate the show returning to TV on September 4, where it will be airing on new channel FXX.
What do you think about this casting? As always, we want to hear some of your thoughts below, and you can check out some of the other notable names on “The Mindy Project” season 2 over here.
