Do you hear the pitter-patter of feet moving away from a certain studio lot? That’s the sound of celebrities running away from “Dancing with the Stars.” Given the fantastically boring lineups that the show has had over the past three or four seasons, we almost find more pleasure in seeing who turns down the show rather than who actually gets on.
Bookmark this link if you’re feeling super-sadistic, given that we are surely going to have a few more of these to share over the course of the coming weeks. But for now, these are the first two names to come up on the list.
Paula Deen – This sounds ludicrous to begin with, given that the last thing that ABC should want on their show is a chef known for using the N-word. It’s all about what you’ve done lately, and Paula has lost a trio of Food Network shows. Us Weekly claims that Paula turned out the gig, feeling that it was not the right move for her career right now (what career?)
Paula probably would have been awful, and we also don’t quite know if she would have been embraced by the rest of the cast (which is always diverse), let alone viewers at home.
Geraldo Rivera – While we would love to watch his mustache do a samba, the Fox News host announced on Twitter that he declined the invitation, citing a bad knee and some other issues. Geraldo also probably would have stunk, but it couldn’t have been worse than that picture of himself in a towel that he posted online.
Ultimately, we’re sure that the cast will include one sitcom veteran who has done very little in the past decade, a retired football player, a Disney Channel star (but a supporting actor; not a lead), and at least one person from a reality TV franchise like “The Real Housewives.” We’re almost sure that someone from “Duck Dynasty” will be asked, given that it is the flavor of the year right now. and who doesn’t want to see Jase Robertson on the dance floor? That’s just good TV.
