‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ comes up with way to mock the Emmys
“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” fans are a pretty loyal bunch, and one of the primary reasons for that is that the episodes are hilarious, but they never receive the proper respect that they deserve. The show has never been nominated for an acting, writing, directing, or overall series category at the Emmys, and has mostly been ignored by other awards shows, as well. We imagine that some of that may be voters’ disdain for Green Man and Kitten Mittens, and one of the other reasons may just be that these guys have never really even made it their emphasis to kiss up to some people who are irrelevant to the future of their show.
However, awards shows are, to an extent, a part of the show this season. At a press tour this week, it was announced that one upcoming episode is “The Gang Desperately Tries to Win an Award,” which is going to revolve all around the gang basically trying to see what other pubs are doing right, that way they can finally have some of the respect that they think they have earned.
As you would expect, nothing ever goes right for Dennis, Mac, and the rest of the group, so they are going to quickly realize that what works for all of these other bars does not necessarily work for them. Notice some parallels? Well, you should. The message here should be loud and clear, and we also have a suspicion that the message will also have us rolling around on the floor in laughter.
What do you think about this idea for an episode of this show, and are you just as stoked as we are? The gang will be back for more starting on September 4, and you can read some more news on what is ahead here.
