‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5 premiere spoilers: What Elena, Damon ‘did last summer’
According to a new report from Entertainment Weekly, the premiere airing on October 3 (one week earlier than originally planned) is going to be titled “I Know What You Did Last Summer.” What’s with that name? Not only is it a reference to an extremely popular movie that anyone from the 1990s knows very well, but it is also a reflection to what much of the story of the premiere is really going to be all about: Trying to figure out what happened to these characters in the time in which they were away.
For Elena and Damon, what will be particularly interesting here is getting the opportunity to actually see their growth as a real, functioning couple, and not just someone who is sire-bonded or someone who wants the other person to desperately reciprocate their love. Outside of the fact that they are both vampires, it could feel surprisingly normal.
In other news, we’re also set to potentially see Stefan drown thanks to Silas, Rebekah and Matt’s travels around the world, and maybe even Caroline trying to get through the Klaus / Tyler situation in her love life.
What do you think about this episode title: Do you think it’s cool, especially when you consider that this is really just a way for the show to get a little bit of extra attention?
