‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 7 spoilers: Ready for some Sheldon / Penny scenes?

You know that you have a show that works well when you can pair off random characters and create a great episode, and “The Big Bang Theory” has really managed to by and large pull it off. While Sheldon Cooper may have a girlfriend now in Amy Farrah Fowler, we do have to admit that there is still something incredibly endearing in seeing some of his scenes with another leading lady in Kaley Cuoco’s Penny. She was the original girl in Sheldon’s life, even if it was never romantic and she hated at least a decent percentage of her time around him.

But by the time this season really picks up this fall, it is possible that we could see Penny in a pretty interesting position as a comfort to Sheldon. She realizes that he needs someone in his life to cheer him up without Leonard around, and while Amy and Bernadette have a road trip in an upcoming episode, she will stay behind with him. All of this information was confirmed by executive producer Steven Molaro to TV Guide, who adds that Amy and Bernadette are specifically heading to a conference all about science, which Penny has not really taken too much of an interest in to begin with.

We’re assuming that Leonard will return before we get too deep into the season, and that will be way better then having him apart from the gang all season. For now, why not just enjoy the story for what it will be: Simple, silly funny that should include a “Soft Kitty” reprise? Nobody sings it to Sheldon quite like Penny does.
