‘Whose Line Is It Anyway?’ renewed for second season on The CW
Given that “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” is one of our favorite comedy shows of all time, just having it back on the air this summer was reason for us to be doing a happy dance. Is Aisha Tyler the same as Drew Carey? No, but she is trying to bring her own stamp to the show, and Colin Mochrie, Wayne Brady, and Ryan Stiles are as funny as ever. (Also, throw in here Keegan-Michael Key, who was hysterical last week in his appearance.)
So to hear the news today that the show is being renewed for another season really is cause to start jumping around, throwing our hands in the air, and doing other embarrassing things that we would not normally do in public. Here’s what The CW’s programming head Mark Pedowitz says about the move:
“It’s clear that viewers are as excited to have ‘Whose Line’ back on the air as we are. We have wanted to bring comedy back to The CW for a long time, and Aisha, Wayne, Colin and Ryan have brought funny to the network in a big way. We’re very excited to have them back for another season.”
So there’s your confirmation that the entire crew is returning for next season, and this is especially impressive given that The CW wasted almost no time making it happen. Then again, this just serves as further proof that if your show draws anything higher than a 1.0 in the 18-49 demographic, you’re probably doing good enough to be brought back for more … especially during the summer.
Today has been a big day for The CW’s programming, given that they have also announced that there are some small shifts being made to their upcoming fall schedule. While we are sure that there will be temptation to bring Stiles and company on this spring, we hope for the sake of ratings that they continue to wait until summer.
