‘America’s Got Talent’ results: Did Collins Key, Alexandria the Great, Anna Christine advance?

America's Got TalentAfter a hit-or-miss “America’s Got Talent” Tuesday night, we’re now back here with the first results show; or, what could otherwise be known as the “Snapple Snapple Performance and More Snapple” hour. Seriously what’s with all the product placement? We know that you have to pay the judges, but this was starting to take the entire idea of product placement to completely ridiculous levels.

After a performance by Labrinth (otherwise known as Simon Cowell continuing to promote his own acts), we did eventually get to some results complete with some confusion and pretty cruel tactics by producers.

Group 1 – Aralynn & Izzy, Kevin Downey Jr., and Alexandria the Great

Okay, this one was completely and utterly obvious: Everyone (including animals) knew that if someone was getting through on this grouping, it was going to be the escape artist. Alexandria combines talent with inspiration, and that is easily enough to win these voters over constantly. We actually did like Kevin, though … Howard Stern will likely bring him back as a wild card.

But wait, who’s going home? These producers are heart breakers already! All three of these acts are out of the running.

Group 2 – Special Head, Fresh Faces, and Hype

Meanwhile, there was not anyone in this group that we actually thought was as strong as Alexandria. We immediately thought that the “aw, cute kid” voters must have went with Fresh Faces, even though they showed us absolutely nothing that is new or original to this show. But no; no one was sent through to the next round again. That means that out of the six acts that are coming up, four of them would be advancing.

Group 3 – Collins Key, Tellavision, and the KriStef Brothers

The KriStef Brothers and Collins Key are the two acts that are going to go through, though we also think that Collins’ use of the word “swag” last night was incredibly annoying. The brothers were put through mostly because this was inevitable, and then the magic man was sent through after the break. To be fair, Collins was not perfect on the show last night, given that he nearly messed up the trick early; but still, he’s got potential, and for a magician at his age, the show is understandably interested in helping to make him a star.

Group 4 – Branden James, American Hitmen, and Anna Christine

There was no doubt that Branden was going to be making it through, which meant that the showdown was going to happen between Anna Christine and the rock group … and a pretty questionable decision was made in our eyes by the tiebreakers in the public vote. Our logic is this: We’ve had tons of kid singers over the years on this show, and we’ve heard better ones than Anna. The American Hitmen were great at what they did last night, but they just picked the wrong song and we had more confidence in the future. We’re sure they will be back for a wild-card round, but we are still very much bummed to see them go.

Do you think that the right people advance to the next round? We have our full review of Tuesday night’s show here, so be sure to check it out.
