Casting notes: ‘Nashville’ season 2, ‘Person of Interest’ season 3, ‘Chicago Fire’ season 2
Chaley Rose joins “Nashville“ – To think, she would be the morning anchor of a CBS news show if she just changed one letter in her last name. Anyhow … the show’s official Twitter page confirmed the announcement this week, saying that Rose will play the part of Zoey, a young woman who was friends with Scarlett years ago, and has big dreams of making it as a country singer (as millions of other young American women do, in what is sadly the most cutthroat genre out there).
Rose’s most-notable TV credit thus far is an episode of FX’s “Anger Management,” proving that if she can work with Charlie Sheen and make it to the other side, she should really be able to work with anyone. This role is at least recurring for the time being.
“Chicago Fire” is “Killing” – Or, they have at least cast one of the most-noteworthy actors from AMC’s “The Killing” to play a major recurring part in their second season. Michelle Forbes (also known from “True Blood”) will play Gail McLeod, a woman working with the state Fire Marshall’s office that is going to start to get very involved with a certain firehouse that features so many sweaty and occasionally-shirtless guys that so many have come to like on NBC’s drama.
A “Smash” star moves on – The best thing you can do to move on from the “Smash” debacle is to move on as fast as possible, and that is what Leslie Odom Jr. is doing fresh off his recurring role on the musical. He will be joining “Person of Interest” for a possibly-recurring season 3 spot as Peter, a savvy tech executive. Given the sort of work that Finch and Reese do, they could be in use of someone like this.
All three of these shows will return this fall, and “Nashville” has clearly been the most active of the group thus far, with constant series-regular promotions being touted in the press.
