‘Bunheads’ season 2 renewal odds decrease even more, if that is possible

Bunheads

“Bunheads” is at this point becoming so strung out at this point, you’d think that it was time they’d finally make a decision and stop torturing fans. If ABC Family was really going to cancel the Sutton Foster series, couldn’t they have done it a month ago, or even over a week ago when they did so with “The Lying Game”? The more you draw this out, the more you give false hope that the show has a chance if it really does not.

As dreadful as this entire, very-depressing situation is, the show’s consulting producer Daniel Palladino (husband to creator Amy Sherman-Palladino) had one of the more interesting / honest critiques on this whole matter per TVLine, complete with plenty of wit and sarcasm to boot:

“It’s definitely on life support — at best. It’s gasping for air, pumped full of drugs. And the waiting… geez …. I don’t want to say it’s getting ridiculous, but Obama is planning to address it on Monday.”

The site says that the reason for this drawn-out wait is so the network can try to see if there are some more cost-cutting options that they can use while still keeping the series alive. We personally don’t know what else they could want; they already received a major tax credit from the show, and they got some positive attention at the Critics’ Choice TV Awards. For a network that is really considered by non-parents over 30 as “‘Pretty Little Liars’ and what else,” they have to be happy with the press that they are getting for the show… right?

We’re almost starting to wonder that if “Bunheads” comes back, the show will feature Foster playing every role, including trying to teach herself ballet. They may also have to cast some of the writers as a means to save even more cash. We know we’re getting snippy about this, but we wouldn’t be nearly so obnoxious had the network just made a choice and been done with it.

For more signs on why the show’s renewal is pretty unlikely at this point, we have them for you here to read and/or weep over.
