AMC’s ‘The Killing’ season 3, episode 9 review: A bullet to the heart
Unfortunately, this was not a particularly easy episode of the show to watch, just as it was not a particular easy episode for a certain Detective Holder. He spent a great deal of time trying to find a proper way to protect Bullet, to keep her safe thanks to how much he related to that story. Then, their break of trust occurred, and he decided not to pick up the phone at the very moment that she realized who was responsible for the killings. He didn’t pick up, and unfortunately, he is now going to have to deal with the weight of her death on his conscience.
While the force does now have Joe Mills in custody, there are still some other questions. Is Linden going to stay on, and are there so many other unanswered questions that she cannot bear to pull herself away? Given that there are some deaths out there that Linden figures Mills was not a part of, we do not expect to see her take off much time off.
Plus, there is still some other questions in regards to Seward, who is still behind bars and time is slowly ticking away until he ends up having a death of his own. Ray is praying for help in any way possible, and the reality of this situation is starting to settle in. He is closer and closer to being exonerated, but at the same time, also closer and closer to not living to see his name cleared.
Finally, we have to give some recognition here to Joel Kinnaman, who reminded us yet again of how fantastic an actor he is. This season has been a comeback for a show that had lost its way through much of season 2, and seeing the evolution of this Holder character is heartbreaking. We care for this man, and he is the major reason why.
