‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 7: Johnny Galecki on Comic-Con surprise

The Big Bang TheorySo how exactly did it come to fruition that Johnny Galecki turned up at Comic-Con’s “Big Bang Theory” panel in the role of Princess Leia’s Bounty Hunter? It was one of the greatest surprises to come out of the San Diego convention this year, and it also happens to be something that the actor himself is more than happy to talk about a little bit.

In speaking about his surprise cameo to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor explained that really, the entire idea was born out of a desire to do something that would surprise the fans, and to also not take the focus away from the writers during what was basically their panel:

“We decided to do something like that at the Critics’ Choice Awards, and that’s when the show publicist and I were talking about who was able to go and who wasn’t … I said, ‘I am and I would really like to, and how do we do it?’ At first I said, ‘Why don’t you just have Melissa and I as the house band for the writers panel?’

“…As a cast, we are big fans of the writers. So why don’t we stand up and ask a question and do it that way? It’s Comic-Con, all we needed to do was wear a Yoda mask or something.”

Galecki’s appearance of course turned out to be a big hit, and it was one of many nice moments that happened during the convention that have allowed for some conversation after the fact. There hasn’t been any real shocking bit of casting news this year, but these moments are something that fans will talk about for many years to come.
