For those of you who were desperate to know whether or not Cobie Smulders was going to reprise her role as Maria Hill from “The Avengers” in the upcoming “Agents of SHIELD” series, we now have an answer for you: It’s going to happen on at least one occasion.
Sources have confirmed that the “How I Met Your Mother” star will turn in at least one decent-sized guest spot in the ABC drama’s pilot episode, and there are possibilities open for her to appear beyond that. However, she is as of right now still contracted on “How I Met Your Mother” season 9, so she will be pretty busy and all appearances on this other show will need to be cleared by her powers-that-be over at CBS and studio 20th Century Fox TV.
Rumors have been buzzing about Cobie possibly appearing on the new show given her role in the feature film, but she has to this point been coy. However, we do assume now that this could allow her the opportunity to have a few more spots in the future on the show, at least depending on how long it lasts. Depending on what Cobie wants to do when “How I Met Your Mother” is over, we could see her taking on a more prominent role on a possible “Agents of SHIELD” season 2, especially since there would be nothing Joss Whedon would love more than to extend his already-established universe with one of his most-popular actors.
This news and more will be revealed in full this weekend at Comic-Con, but for now what do you think about seeing more of Maria on the show? If you want to also check out the latest other updates from Comic-Con, be sure to click here.
