‘Doctor Who’s’ 50th anniversary: Now taking over Heathrow Airport

Doctor Who“Doctor Who” fever is continuing to completely take over much of the United Kingdom in honor of the show’s 50th anniversary. You may have already heard the news about the prom from this weekend featuring appearances from Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman, and the announcement now is something that is both cool and also very welcome. Beginning tomorrow, parts of London’s Heathrow airport are going to become a tribute to the show.

Some of the attractions at the airport are going to include TARDIS photo booths, appearances from iconic characters, and other bits and pieces of show memorabilia. It’s definitely something that the show does not need to provide to patrons of a place that typically features some of the angriest and most impatient people in the world.

In a statement confirming this news, executive producer Steven Moffat had the following to say:

“We are delighted to announce another extension to Heathrow’s world-beating facilities – all of space and time in a stylish blue box, complete with phone. Heathrow with time travel – nobody need ever be late again.”

After all of this hype and creativity on the part of the show and the BBC, the only thing we can really hope for now when it comes to the future of “Doctor Who” is really rather simple: That this 50th anniversary special on November 23 does end up meeting all of the hype established here and then some. We will of course have more news on that in the coming weeks, so be sure to stay tuned for more.
