‘The Newsroom’ season 2, episode 2 preview: First look at ‘The Genoa Tip’
After looking at the reviews for Sunday night’s “The Newsroom,” outside of our own mostly-positive take on it, we once again find a large group of television reporters out there have found plenty of complain about. We don’t know if this has been said enough, so it is certainly worth saying again: The show has it’s weak spots, but it also has a lot of strength.
In moving forward into next week, we are going to see at least a few of the present storylines start to predictably move along, with the primary one being the Genoa plot that was set up at the start of the season. This one is a little unusual for the show given that it is based on fiction rather than fact, but this also makes some sense given that this story ends up blowing up in ACN’s faces.
So who is the primary person to blame? Just look at Jerry Dantana, who is so desperate to prove himself that he probably relies on a tip a little bit more than he should from someone desperate for airtime. Nonetheless, he and his team continue to pursue it.
As for the other major story here, it appears that Neil’s attempts to chase down the Occupy Wall Street movement are going to produce some results … at least when it comes to him being arrested. He was at least right about this movement being something … so shouldn’t he get some points for that?
