‘America’s Got Talent’ preview: Howard Stern teases upcoming Vegas Week

America's Got TalentThe auditions on “America’s Got Talent” this year are all now a thing of the past, and with that, we turn to the very important phase of the competition that can turn potential favorites into losers, and misfits into people that you can actually watch out for: Vegas Week. It’s something to impress a crowd of people who can get behind you for silly reasons, but this time there’s no breathing room if something goes wrong. You have to impress the judges and only the judges if you want to advance.

In the video below, Howard Stern really sums up the sort of intensity that goes into this part of the competition with the following message:

“I can hear every note, I can watch every dance step, I don’t have the distraction of the crowd … I feel like the keeper of the gate.”

The live rounds this year are at Radio City Music Hall in Manhattan, which is the most prestigious venue that a live show for “America’s Got Talent” has ever been held. Only a small percentage of the acts currently around will get there, and they have to compete against other acts that are similar to them in many ways. Singers will battle singers, dancers will battle dancers, and so on. This allows us to have a pretty balanced group for the live shows, that way there are at least some people on the show who aren’t just trying to woo us with a guitar and a sad story.
