House of the Dragon season 3 episode 7: The last before finale

As we look in the direction of House of the Dragon season 3 episode 7 on HBO, there is quite a bit to anticipate. With that being said, is there a suitable starting-off point here?

Well, the first thing that you do need to have in the back of your mind right now is the simple fact that the finale is going to be here before too long! There are only two more installments left, which is certainly infuriating given that it would be nice to have a whole lot more than that. Remember when Game of Thrones used to give us ten? Those were certainly the days.

So as for what you can expect to see moving into episode 7, a lot is going to be framed around what we know we are going to be seeing Alicent do when it comes to Aemond. She is being tasked by Rhaenyra to locate him as a part of a far larger plan in exchange for her freedom. Rhaenyra is obviously trying to root out anyone who opposes her but at the same time, it is abundantly clear that there are some problems that she may be running into, as well. The Gold Cloak crisis, for example, is still very much far from resolved.

Meanwhile, is Aegon really going to head out to Essos? It is hard to imagine that this is the end of his story.

No matter what happens across episode 7, it does feel pretty clear that we are going to be left with some cliffhanger that bridges over to the big finale in episode 8. That is where there could be some closure for what we are seeing right now but at the same time, some table-setting could occur for the fourth and final chapter.
