The Vampire Lestat season 3 finale: Is Lestat still alive?
We knew heading into The Vampire Lestat and its season 3 finale that the producers had a great deal on their plate. Just consider everything that they had to answer! You had the fate of Lestat for sure but at the same time, the beheadings at the end of last week, the final concert, characters like Akasha, and a whole lot more.
So did we really get answers to everything in its totality? Well, let’s just say that (at least for now) the answer to this is a little bit complicated.

Based on where things stood at the end of the episode, it does feel fair to assume that (at least for now) Sam Reid’s character is actually still around — despite faking his own death. He may have performed one final concert and, in the aftermath of that, much of the city of Montreal may be in ruins.
Now, the question marks come via how we got to that point. Remember for a moment that the Talamasca were really responsible for saving Lestat and getting his severed head back on. They also wanted him to perform the concert, even though there were thousands of vampires in attendance for it. Why do that? Isn’t the Great Conversion something that they should want to avoid? This is one of the mysteries that lingers, along with how Armand got that eyepatch in the auction scene at the start of the season.
As for how Louis gets his own head back, that answer is a little bit clearer — it is tied to what Armand really wanted from him in the first place. It was never about killing him. Instead, it was about laying all the cards out on the table.
