‘Supernatural’ season 9: See a quick take of Jensen Ackles’ transformation

How do you know that you are back at the start of filming for one of your favorite shows? When your favorite actors start shaving off their famous hiatus beards! That’s right: Jensen Ackles, like Jon Hamm or even recently Jon Stewart away from “The Daily Show,” chooses to enjoy his time off from “Supernatural” by not focusing so much on shaving as relaxing.

However, this week marks the beginning of filming for the CW hit, and that is translated to mean that this is the time for the beard to go. The Vine below was shared originally by director Guy Norman Bee, and it is six seconds of the perfect “before” and “after” process for Jensen. Given that the actor himself doesn’t have a Twitter account, this is really the closest thing that you have to him being immersed in the world of social media.

As for what the “Supernatural” cast is actually working on right now, the show is in the process of filming “Devil May Care,” which is actually the second episode of this season, and will air on Tuesday, October 22. They will pick up with filming for the premiere following this up, and expect to see Jensen rock the no-beard look pretty much the rest of the way pending some drastic change in the writing where he becomes a hermit (or a wizard).

There are not many details announced yet about the show’s first episode back, but expect more story on Sam and Dean’s next move and also what is really going to happen with the angels.
