Dutton Ranch season 1 finale: Did Joaquin kill Rob-Will?

We do not blame anyone who comes out of the Dutton Ranch season 1 finale with a wide array of different questions. Take, for starters, how Beth and Rip are going to be able to get Carter back … provided of course that they are.
For the sake of this piece, though, we want to focus more of our energy on the big death that happened — Rob-Will is gone! He was just named Beulah’s heir for the 10-Petal Ranch and yet, he was taken out with a gunshot after a tender moment with his daughter Oreana.

Was Joaquin actually the one to pull the trigger here? It obviously makes sense to name him the top suspect at the moment, given that Mariano told him to take out his brother. However, we’re still not sure he is 100% capable of doing it! Based on what Juan Pablo Raba (who plays the character) said to Entertainment Weekly, he may actually be in agreement:
“If you think about the episode and you go through the timeline, Rob-Will says bye to Oreana, and then we stay on her, and then not even 30 seconds later, we hear a gunshot … So that means that whoever did it literally went ding dong, Rob-Will opened the door, and shot him. It takes a lot of cold blood to do that. You have to be a professional killer to do that.
“Number one, Joaquin is not a professional killer … Number two, Mariano being Mariano, do we really think that he thinks his son is going to go through that? Or would he have a backup plan? Who knows.”
It does feel like this is one of those situations where we will likely have some sort of answers early on in season 2. Even if not all of the finer details are made clear, it could be nice to be put on the road to some answers, no?
