House of the Dragon season 3: Is Ser Lorent Marbrand gone for good?

We know that House of the Dragon has killed off a number of major characters over the years, but has a supporting one been taken out off-screen?

Well, based at least on the latest regarding Ser Lorent Marbrand, it does appear as though that may be the case. We recognize already that this is a knight who is responsible, at least in part, for keeping Rhaenyra from attending the Battle of the Gullet at Jace’s behest. He already offered his life in return for his actions but before heading to King’s Landing, Rhaenyra actually decides to let Ser Lorent decide upon his own demise for himself.

Is this something we will learn more about in an upcoming episode? We sure hope so but based on what we are seeing online, the character’s time on-screen is truly done. In a post on Instagram actor Maxim Wrottesley (who has been a part of the show since season 1) said goodbye to the series and some of his co-stars — including the incredible Emma D’Arcy, who he shared a lot of screen time with.

Is Rhaenyra going to miss Ser Lorent? Despite what happened at the end, we do think she recognizes the value in having someone who was that devoted to her for much of her time at Dragonstone. Good knights can be hard to come by, and we also recognize that so much of her world is going to be changing now that she is over at King’s Landing. By virtue of that, there could be more reasons than ever why she would need extra protection. Sure, she has Daemon and others, but can you really be too safe in a world like Westeros?
