This weekend is poised to bring House of the Dragon season 3 episode 2 over to HBO — so what more can we say about it now?

Of course, the first order of business here is simply noting that in terms of action, it is fundamentally unfair to expect anything on the level of what we got with the Battle of the Gullet. In what universe would that ever be feasible here in terms of the budget? What we do tend to think that we’re going to get here is something that will be highly emotional in nature, which makes a reasonable amount of sense given that Rhaenyra just lost Jace and we imagine that she will learn the news rather quickly.

So in terms of the story’s overall length, should we brace for something similar to what we just had with the Gullet? While that would be amazing, it does appear as though we could be getting something at least a few minutes shorter. As of right now, HBO is listing this upcoming episode as lasting an hour and eight minutes, meaning that it will probably be at least a handful of minutes shorter when you factor in opening credits and what other featurettes that arrive after the fact.

As for any individual details for what is to come, the powers-that-be are not saying much at the moment, not that this comes as much of a surprise. This is a show that often does not get official titles or synopses until some period of time after it airs. We would just say that with a cast this big, there is a chance for people to die at almost any turn.
