We know that The Way Home season 4 episode 7 would contain a lot of information and big surprises — and the promo for what is ahead reinforces that further.

After all, take a look at what happened with Elliot. This is someone who clearly decided to come up with a plan regarding the past, one that included him opting to stay in the past. Not only that, but he becomes somewhat notable there — enough to be labeled a “big fish” judging from the newspaper headlines. Also, consider the name Tom Buchanan here for a moment, as well. What does this all mean?

Clearly, Elliot presumably being “Tom Buchanan” is a pretty direct reference to The Great Gatsby, a move that also works rather well given the era that he is currently in. What he is up to there is likely tied to Tessa, as most of his actions have been over the past few episodes.

There is a lot that Kat is going to have to reckon with over the remaining few episodes of the series. Why did Elliot keep the sabbatical and this decision from her? Was he worried that she would keep him from doing it? We do think we will get more of his point of view within the relatively near future, but this is where it is also worth stating that it really feels like the show is going to have a hard time wrapping all of this up within the span of just a few stories. Why couldn’t we get at least some sort of extended movie after all of this, if not a proper season 5?
