Scarpetta season 2 premiere date: A May 2026 update

Is there any chance that we could hear something more about Scarpetta season 2 before the month is over — and if not then, what about early June?

Given that the first season of the Prime Video hit starring Nicole Kidman just premiered early this year, we do feel like most out there are aware that the next chapter of the series will not be kicking off in the immediate future. As great as that would be, we do think this is an instance where some waiting is required.

So how long will we be waiting, exactly? The good news for those unaware is that Scarpetta season 2 is already in production. We do think that the Amazon-owned streaming service would like for it to be available at some point in the first half of next year, especially since that gives them an element of consistency that is rare for a lot of shows these days. It may have also been one of the reasons why they gave the Patricia Cornwell adaptation two seasons from the get-go; it allows them a better opportunity to see what they actually have here before determining what they could be getting long-term.

Could a premiere date be announced this year?

It is certainly possible but at the same time, we would not sit here and express any confidence that it is 100% going to happen. If it does, we’re thinking that an announcement would be made around December. Prime just has so many other shows to discuss and hype up over the next few months, and we tend to think that they are going to put a good bit of their energy into trying to make them successful before focusing on anything else that is coming down the road.
