Half Man episode 6 (finale) spoilers: Richard Gadd sets up ending

In just a couple of days over at HBO you are going to have a chance to see Half Man episode 6 arrive — are you ready at all for what is to come?

Of course, we already know a little bit about how the Richard Gadd drama is going to conclude based on what we have seen already. To be specific, we are talking here about the image of Ruben being taken away, seemingly dead. We know that Niall has brought him to a separate room for a private conversation, but what are the two going to talk about? The easy conclusion to make at this point is that Niall murders him and we are about to see all of that happen, but the truth could still be a tad more complicated than this.

No matter where the story goes from here on out, there is one thing that does still feel clear: We are not necessarily building towards some sort of happy conclusion. Speaking to Variety recently on that subject, here is some of what Gadd had to say:

“I don’t think happy endings, or even conclusive endings, are really true to life.”

Ultimately, we do think it is best to remember that Half Man has from the start been a dark, unflinching look at toxic masculinity. It is hard to imagine it drifting far from that at this point, especially since every time it feels like one of the two characters has gotten away from the other, the past comes rolling back like a dangerous tidal wave. Having it return during Niall’s wedding may perhaps be the most traumatic act yet.
