The Vampire Lestat spoilers: Sam Reid talks singing live

We know that there are a number of things to be excited about entering The Vampire Lestat over on AMC, but is there any natural starting-off point here at all? Well, if so, it may be the prospect of getting to see some unique vampire-centric musical numbers.

With that being said, do not expect any of them to take you dramatically out of the story. Lestat will be viewing himself as a rock star and with that, some of the music does need to be raw and organic.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, star Sam Reid reveals that there are some pre-recorded demos and music that was done in advance of scenes being filmed. However, at the same time, the actor indicates that he really wanted to actually sing live for some scenes:

“I also sang live in the show … I haven’t seen the mix yet, that might have been a mistake, but at the time, when I fought for the singing live, I was a bit like: I don’t want this to feel like a musical. I don’t want it to look like a music video. I want to see some f—-ups. I want to see the veins when I’m singing. I don’t want it all to be perfect. I want it to feel like it’s an organic happening.”

This feels at least the most realistic for what we would want to see for a show like this, even if we are going to be stuck waiting for a little while waiting to see the end product in its totality. Lestat is someone who could be performing to take some of his individual power back and through that, it will be emotional at some instances.
