‘The View’: Elisabeth Hasselbeck will leave Wednesday for ‘Fox & Friends’
Who knows? Maybe the rumors about Elisabeth Hasselbeck leaving “The View” over the course of the past several months were really true all along. On Tuesday, it was announced that not only is the former “Survivor” contestant (yep, that’s still what we remember her from before anything else) will be leaving the daytime giant tomorrow, and promptly heading over to her new home on “Fox & Friends,” where she will be a co-host come around the middle of September.
In a statement, here is what Hasselbeck had to say about getting the opportunity to join what is already a giant in cable news:
“I have been a longtime fan of Fox & Friends and am excited to be joining their team in September as it is an honor to call the Fox News Channel my new television home.”
From the standpoint of Hasselbeck, this move has to feel like a match made in heaven. While “Saturday Night Live” and others choose to often mock the right-wing news station, it’s a perfect fit for her and her audience. Not only that, but the ratings for the show are consistently through the roof in comparison to anything that CNN or MSNBC puts on the air. There is a large conservative audience on there, and they will probably appreciate her more on Fox News than they ever did on ABC.
Now, the Barbara Walters series has to deal with the challenge of having to find a pair of new hosts for the show this fall. Jenny McCarthy has already been linked to one of the jobs, but the search for the other is still very much up in the air.
What do you this about Hasselbeck leaving the show, and do you think that she is going to flourish on “Fox & Friends”? If you want to read more about the McCarthy’s story, just be sure to head on over to the link here.
