Widow’s Bay season 1 episode 5: A new Reverend Bryce mystery

One of the things that does make a show like Widow’s Bay so great is its potential to constantly raise a wide array of questions. One of the obvious ones is what is truly happening in the community — what is real versus what is a fabrication.
At the end of episode 4, one of the biggest question marks came about in the form of Reverend Bryce — or rather, what truly happened to him. Is this someone who took his own life or, rather, was he murdered and then set up to look different?

Here is some of what we know at the moment. Bryce had started to realize that some strange things were happening around the town. He had some information left by his predecessor and, of course, that informed at least some of what he was thinking and feeling about the place. That was before he heard the bells and/or whatever was in that well. We saw him running through the woods and even trying to warn Tom’s son.
If the Reverend did take his own life, he did so thinking that he could not handle the truth about what was happening before him. However, if there is a different sort of reality here, it came about as a result of him wanting to share information about what he found or heard. Reverends are leaders and are trusted, so you could easily say that this is a problem — provided that someone is truly behind some of what is happening in the town as of late. Killing him ensures that secrets remain that way, and is anyone really going to spend that much time hunting down the truth? Even if you look at the Sheriff, he clearly at this point has other stuff on his plate.
