For those who are not aware, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2 is going to introduce a number of new faces into the mix. Take, for starters, Lady Rohanne, a woman otherwise known as the Red Widow. She will be a foundational part of this particular chapter of the story, and could she also be a good foil for Dunk?

Obviously, those who have read The Sworn Sword by George R.R. Martin have an advantage here. For everyone else, let’s just say you are in for a treat.

Speaking on this character further to Entertainment Weekly, here is some of what showrunner Ira Parker had to say:

“She has a way of making Dunk uncomfortable, which is very good for us. Some of our other characters on season 1 did that very well, and that’s what we need from the Red Widow for a variety of reasons … This is essentially Dunk wading into politics. Maybe he’s gotten pretty good with a sword and pretty good riding a horse and being a sword for hire, but not so good at talking to highborn ladies or politicking in general. So somebody who can make him feel back-footed is gonna lead to good situations for us.”

In some way, a lot of this could facilitate comedy for some of these characters — and yet, also bring forward some new challenges, as well. Dunk wants to be a good knight and also train Egg in the best way he can — however, how can he best do that when he struggles to handle some situations that are right in front of him? This may be a part of what makes this story so particularly worth watching.
